Grew up in Vernon AL. and moved to Florence in 2005 to go to college at NWSCC. Met my lovely wife Brandi in 2009, our baby girl Brynlee was born August of 2012, and our baby boy Titus was born in December of 2015. I played basketball and wrestled in high school. I figured out real quick that I wasn’t going to get any taller so I better get wider and that is what made me start lifting weights. Started doing CrossFit full time in 2010 and have been hooked ever since. Got certified and started training in 2011 and I think this is what I want to do when I grow up! Can’t wait to see where this movement goes and love the resurgence that it has brought about in Olympic weight lifting and gymnastics.

My name is Josh Watkins, I was raised in Florence, AL. I went to Wilson High School. I played football at UNA-University of North Alabama for a year and then transferred to Faulkner Christian University to finish my football career. I was an offensive lineman so I used to be really big. 330lbs to be exact. I started on my weight loss journey and that led me to crossfit. I have now lost close to 100lbs and still counting. Crossfit is a lifestyle that has made me a much better person both physically and mentally. I am level 1 certified and hope to continue getting certifications.

David Winkle

David Winkle- CrossFit Level 1

I was born in Sheffield, AL. I grew up with my dad being very athletic, and my mom not only being a record setting athlete, but one who has been in the fitness industry for over 30 years and probably one of the best fitness trainers around. I was a 4 sport athlete at Sheffield High School. I went on to play football at the University of North Alabama. After I left college I met my beautiful wife, Michelle. Together we made our greatest accomplishment, our daughter, Makadyn Elise. I worked for the utility department at the time, hated it, and decided I wanted to do something to change lives. I became a Fire Fighter 2011, which led me to Crossfit to get in the best possible shape for myself and my job. Crossfit's competitiveness drives me. It led me to getting my Level 1 Certification in 2012 so that I could also change others through fitness. So, here I am today pushing myself and others to not only feel better but be better!

 Tyler Layne

- CrossFit Level 1 Certified

- BS, Therapeutic Nutrition

I grew up in Huntsville, AL. I was a sprinter in high school, I ran the 400m, 800m, and relays. In 2008 moved to Florence to go to the University of North Alabama on a music performance scholarship. Once I realized I enjoyed music only as a hobby, I switched my major to Culinary Arts. I worked just about every position in the kitchen from 2009-2015, still taking catering jobs here and there, today. After seeing how people eat, with no regard to their health I decided I wanted to help people eat better and show them that healthy didn't have to mean gross. In 2012, I added Nutrition as a second major and graduated from UNA with a BS in Culinary Arts and Therapeutic Nutrition in 2014.

Somewhere along the way, a friend of mine asked me If I wanted to go workout at a CrossFit gym. I said sure, as I loved any kind of challenge. My first workout was Murph. Run 1 Mile, do 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, and 300 squats, then run another Mile. I remember crushing the first mile, and then standing there starting at a pull-up bar for what seemed like 2 hours. I couldn't believe I wasn't able to finish! I couldn't stand the thought of losing so I went back every day and haven't quit since. Shortly after I began CrossFit I was recruited to the UNA Rugby Club. I played collegiate Rugby for 3 years and was actually invited to try out for the USA team in 2013. After dedicating most of my time to CrossFit I decided to try my hand at Olympic Weightlifting. In 2015 I began competing as an 85kg weightlifter, and podiumed at my first meet. In 2016 I became a full-time coach at HiTemp Athletics. I love CrossFit and everything it's about, especially the doors it opens into all different kinds of fitness. I can't wait to see what the future of CrossFit holds!
